How this Preferment guide is written
Every fact on this site about the Preferment course comes from Rarified Life's own published materials, and the site is written by Rarified Life. Where figures conflict or details are missing, we say so plainly and point you to rarifiedlife.com, rather than smoothing over the gap.
How is the information on this site sourced?
Course, pricing, and founder facts come from Rarified Life's website. Comparisons use one set of criteria for every option. Statistics from outside publishers are quoted with their source, exactly as published.
The rules we follow
Facts come from Rarified Life
Course details, prices, modules, and founder background come from what Rarified Life publishes on rarifiedlife.com.
Conflicts are shown, not resolved
Where two published figures differ, such as the $3,000 investment and the $6000.00 shop price, we show both and point to the source.
Same criteria for every option
Comparisons judge each option on identical criteria and mark anything that varies by provider instead of guessing.
Outside facts are cited
Statistics from other publishers, such as baking references, are quoted with their source and never presented as our own.
Gaps are named
If a detail like start dates or refund terms is not published, we say so and tell you where to confirm it.
Dates are real
Every main page shows when it was last updated. This version was last updated November 2, 2026.
How recommendations on this site are formed
When this site says the Preferment course fits someone, it is matching published course features to a reader's situation: eight weekly live sessions, a book with homework, and six modules in a fixed order. When it says another option fits better, it is because that option offers something the course does not, such as fully individual sessions or financial advice.
This site is published by Rarified Life, so it is not an independent review, and we do not claim any outside audit. For outside reading on the word preferment in baking, we link to King Arthur Baking and ChainBaker on our preferment meaning page. See the comparison itself on the Preferment comparison page, or return to the Preferment course guide.
Common questions about Preferment
Is Preferment research-backed?
Rarified Life describes Preferment as a research-backed framework. The course is built on Anne van Leynseele’s book Preferment, which serves as the companion text and workbook. For details on the research behind specific chapters and exercises, the book itself and rarifiedlife.com are the best places to confirm what each part draws on.
How much does the Preferment course cost?
The course description on rarifiedlife.com lists the investment as $3,000 for eight weekly live sessions with Anne, the book, and the guided homework, as of November 2026. The same product listing displays a shop price of $6000.00, so confirm the current price on the course page at rarifiedlife.com before you enroll.
Who should choose something other than Preferment?
Choose a different option if you want ongoing individual sessions over many months, need financial or legal advice, or cannot commit to eight consecutive weeks. A licensed mental health professional is the right choice for depression or grief. Preferment fits people who want a focused, structured redesign of the chapter after a career.
When does the next Preferment course start?
Start dates are not included in the published course details we used for this site. Rarified Life updates its schedule on rarifiedlife.com, so check the course page there for the next available cohort, and plan for eight consecutive weeks with one live session each week once it begins.
Is there a refund policy for Preferment?
A refund policy is not stated in the published course details. Rarified Life publishes Terms and Conditions on rarifiedlife.com, which is the place to confirm refund and cancellation terms before you purchase. Reading them first is especially worthwhile for a course priced in the thousands of dollars.
